Join Palm Harbor Museum of its October Meet Me At The Museum hybrid in-museum-and-on-Zoom event—Wednesday, October 19th at 7 PM—as we get in the SPIRIT of Halloween with 25-year paranormal investigator, artist, instructor, and historian, Dr. Brandy Stark — founder in 1997 of SPIRITS of St. Petersburg—her paranormal investigation team. Brandy's journey into the paranormal is unique both for its connection to the stories of the historic role of ghosts and culture and her paranormal studies and discoveries related to Pinellas County. Through SPIRITS of St. Petersburg, she has researched and expanded the study of the lore and legends of Tampa Bay, leading some 400 investigations of the supernatural—local, national, and international—both solo and with her team—with the goal to involve the community in distinguishing natural causes from those of more supernatural origin and to promote academic discussion and interpretation of these phenomena. Brandy will share her ghostly discoveries of iconic landmarks and lesser-known spots in Pinellas County and mythologies of the supernatural. Whether truth or urban legend, these stories of hauntings and supernatural phenomena in our region provide an underpinning of the rich history of Pinellas. You'll be fascinated by Brandy's personal experiences in research of the paranormal—including taking her pet pugs to haunted places and observing their reactions. She has hosted more than 110 episodes of the Paranormal Pets podcasts on Petlife Radio. She is also guide for the Shadows in the Sunshine walking ghost tour of downtown St. Petersburg (tours created upon request) that visits locations that SPIRITS of St. Petersburg has investigated for the last two decades. Further, Brandy's artistry extends from her love of history and mythology and her compassionate view of the supernatural world, since respect for others (dead or living) is at the heart of her expression. Her photography focuses largely on moments of quiet contemplation. Her metal sculpture utilizes welding rods to create distinctive mythological wrapped wire figures—her Metal Myths series.  A lifelong lover of world mythology, her works manifest as ancient characters, legends, and deities that promote an awareness not only of upcycling, but symbolize that everything and everyone has a place in this world. Her research has been utilized in several publications in addition to her contributions to publications and television/video/internet productions and serving as a presenter at many public events. Brandy will be glad to copies of her book, Supernatural St. Petersburg and Paranormal Pinellas, that describes local paranormal phenomena.
