International Welding Company Opens Handling Facility-Indiana Business

The Austria-based voestalpine Böhler Welding Group has announced plans to invest more than US$13 million to start business in Portage. Our partner in the Northwest Indiana Times reported that the company will build a 138,000 square foot facility in AmeriPlex in the Port Business Park and create 50 jobs over the next three years.

The Portage City Council has approved tax cuts for the project for five years. The facility will be used to produce welding consumables, such as low-alloy and high-alloy welding wires and electrodes.

The company plans to hire 25 workers by the end of this year, and the remaining new jobs will be filled in the next three years.
